Window Valance Styles
|
There are some of us who don't like the basic windows, windows that are devoid of styling, colors etc. one such novel way to jazz up those ‘oh so boring!' Windows is by adorning them with window valance styles. Valances are usually used to restrict the flow of light into the room, they can be decorative and colorful in nature too. The window valance styles are impressive to look at and enhance the overall look of the window. A well used window valance can even complement the look of your room. Window valences can be used along with other curtain styles such as blinds, drapes, shutters and curtains. Window valance patterns are offered in various styles and formats. They can be used in a great deal of patterns, shapes and sizes. They can be used in almost all the rooms, the window valances can fit your home whether its casual or formal, you are sure of your home being adorned. Many people who have installed valences on their windows say that it makes them forget that they are in the city, they feel that they are somewhere on the countryside.
An ideal window valance style is the one that decorates a window as well as serves the purpose of regulating the amount of light within it. Here are certain window valances which I would like to discuss.
Balloon window valance is named that way because it is balloon shaped. It is constructed using a curtain rod a gathered ruffle is made on the top such that the fabric hangs from it. The fabric is then made to balloon out and paper is added within to retain its shape. The other window valance style is the swag valance style, this requires 2 brackets. A good fabric is folded and draped across the bracket, for those having wider windows it's better to use center support. This window valance style can be made long or short. Pleated valance is another type of valance styles that requires a heavy fabric or those with a stiff lining. The pleated valance is then hung on a 2x4 frame stapled and held by the L-brackets.
Thus there can be a plethora of different styles of window valances, but it's you who must pick out one style and decorate your room in such a way that the window valance complements the appearance of the whole room. |
